Descendants of 'unknown' TREACY (to contribute information, please email Helen@HelensFamilyTrees.com)
1. 'unknown' TREACY was born in abt 1750s in possibly Soloheadbeg area, Co. Tipperary. He died in probably Soloheadbeg, Co. Tipperary.
Our Treacy family came from the parish of Soloheadbeg (also spelled Solloghodbeg) in Co. Tipperary. It is a possibility that 'unknown' above was named Thomas because it appears that his two sons, John and (probably) Nicholas, named their first-born sons Thomas, probably following the tradition at the time of naming the eldest son after the paternal grandfather.
There is an entry in the Title Applotment Books of 1824 for a Thomas Treacy of the townland of Glebe in the parish of Solloghodbeg. Could this Thomas be 'unknown' above?
Although the Treacys were from Soloheadbeg it is possible they came originally from the Kilfeacle area, about 15km away. The reason I say this is because the family used the Kilfeacle cemetery for burials rather than the local Solohead churchyard. For example, John and Nicholas, the sons of 'unknown' above are buried in Kilfeacle.
The Treacy surname is common throughout the country, especially the south east. It is derived from 'O Treasaigh', meaning 'warlike'.
'unknown' married 'UNKNOWN'. 'UNKNOWN' died.
They had the following children.
