Thomas Gordon and descendants

Born in 1821 in Kilgarriff, Fairymount, Co. Roscommon, Thomas Gordon was a son of Cormac or Thomas Gordon and his wife, Anne Hunt.

Thomas, who farmed in Kilgarriff, married Anne Foley of Breanamore, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon about 1857 and they had 16 children: Kathleen (Clarke) who lived in Castlemore, Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon; Bea (O'Hara) who lived in Clegna, Cootehall, Co. Roscommon; Michael who emigrated to New Zealand; Mary and Annie who entered the convent in London and the United States respectively; Pat who went to Liverpool; Lizzie (McDonnell) who lived in Kilmovee, Co. Mayo; Cormac (see next photo) who remained in Kilgarriff; Jennie who was a teacher in Sligo; Tillie who worked as a nurse in Panama and New York; Martha who died as a child; Tom who lived in Liverpool; John who settled in California; Emma (Sr. Jerome) who lived in Dublin; and twins, James and William, who died in infancy. Their mother, Anne, died just two years after the birth of the twins, aged only about 45.

Thomas died in 1901 at the age of about 80.
