Descendants of Michael Sullivan

Sr. Annunciata

Mary Catherine O'Sullivan became Sr. Annunciata when she joined the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles (OLA). She was a daughter of Michael O'Sullivan and Catherine McDermott of Charleville, Co. Cork, and sister of Michael, David and Fr. Ephrem (see previous photos).

Sr. Annunciata left Ireland for Nigeria in 1931 and spent seven years teaching at St. Agnes's College in Yaba. In 1938 she fell ill and returned to Ireland to recuperate. In June 1939, after a year at home, she returned to Yaba, where, three months later, she died of blackwater fever, a form of malaria. She was only 29 years of age.
