All Families and Individuals

Harry FFRENCH-LYNCH was buried in Kilconly Cemetery, Tuam, Co. Galway. Harry married Catherine CURRAN.

Catherine CURRAN was born about 1860. She died on 21 Feb 1924 in Rockwell House, Toberroe, Tuam, Co. Galway. She was buried in Kilconly Cemetery, Tuam, Co. Galway. Catherine married Harry FFRENCH-LYNCH.

They had the following children.

  M i
Henry FFRENCH-LYNCH was born in Rockwell House, Toberroe, Tuam, Co. Galway. He died.
F ii Amy Mary FFRENCH-LYNCH was born in 1895. She died on 26 Nov 1977.

'unknown' STACK died. 'unknown' married Mary MULVIHILL.

Mary MULVIHILL [Parents] was born about 3 Feb 1863 in Gortdromasillihy, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She was christened on 5 Feb 1863 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She died in 1935 in Chicago. Mary married 'unknown' STACK.

Mary emigrated to the United States, settling in Chicago. She and her husband had at least one child but I have no further information on the family.

Daniel MULVIHILL died. Daniel married Johanna MCMAHON.

It appears that Daniel had three farms, one in Clounbrane, one Gin ortdromasillihy and the third in Kilbaha, all in the parish of Newtownsandes (now named Moyvane), Co. Kerry. Apparently three of his sons each inherited a farm.

Daniel's family is related by marriage to the Mulvihills of Shronowen, Listowel, Co. Kerry. The connection is through Daniel's (probable) granddaughter Nora Mulvihill, daughter of Michael Mulvihill and Norrie Cunningham, who married Michael Mulvihill, son of Patrick Mulvihill of Shronowen. It is possible that Daniel's family and the Shronowen Mulvihills are also blood-related but this would need to be researched. There are other Mulvihill families that featues in my family tree, the Mulvihills of Faha and Leansahane in Ballybunion, and of Tarbert, who may or may not be related to the other Mulvihill families mentioned above.

Mulvihill researchers may be interested in the family of a Denis Mulvihill (c.1832-1887) from Newtownsandes, possibly from Clounbrane, who married a Mary Mulvihill who was probably from Ballylongford, Co. Kerry. Denis and Mary emigrated to the United States, most likely in 1863 with their first two children, Daniel and Johanna, and settled in Sidney, Ohio where they had four more children: Michael, Catherne, Mary and Denis. It is believed that Denis Senior had a brother named Daniel who lived in Pittsburg and had a family with his wife, Ellen.

Note from Helen: Although neither my husband nor I am descended from Daniel above, I came across the information below in the course of my research into the family of my great-great-grandaunt Biddy Cunningham of Kilbaha, Moyvane who married John Mulvihill (from Aughrim, Moyvane). Although John does not appear to be related to Daniel, the information below on Daniel and his descendants may be of some use to those researching the Mulvihill families of Clounbrane, Gortdromasillihy, Kilbaha and Shronowen.

Johanna MCMAHON died. Johanna married Daniel MULVIHILL.

They had the following children.

M i Cornelius (Con) MULVIHILL was born about 1823. He died in possibly 15 Nov 1908.
M ii Michael (Mick) MULVIHILL (caution: relationship to siblings not verified) was born about 1824. He died on 29 Jan 1907.
  M iii
Daniel (Dan) MULVIHILL died in probably Gortdromasillihy, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Dan inherited the family's Gortdromasillihy farm (one of the three farms owned by his father). It is possible that Dan was the Daniel Mulvihill of Gortdromasillihy whose son Cornelius married Mary Healy about 1898 and had 12 children but I have been unable to verify this.

There was a Denis Mulvihill, born in the 1870s, who grew up in Gortdromasillihy and who may have been related to Dan. It is known that Denis had a brother named Patrick who had a son named Willie who died in 2001. Denis married a Bridget Flynn and they lived in Ballygoughlin, Glin, Co. Limerick. Their children were Ellen, Mary, Jack, Bridget, Mick, Josephine, Margaret, Catherine and Martin. Martin was a renowned fiddle-player and teacher in New York.

Another Mulvihill with Gortdromasillihy connections, who could be related to Dan above, is Ellen Mulvihill, born about 1853 in Gortdromasillihy, who married Cornelius Shine, also of Gortdromasillihy, about 1875. Ellen and Cornelius had nine children between about 1877 and 1894: Mary (lived in Pittsburgh), Catherine (Pittsburgh), John, Bridget, Cornelius, Daniel (known as Donal), Patrick (Detroit), Michael (Detroit).
  M iv
'unknown' MULVIHILL (male) died in probably Kilbaha, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

'Unknown' above inherited the family's Kilbaha farm (one of three farms owned by the Mulvihills). It is possible that there were no Mulvihills families left in Kilbaha by 1901 because the census of that year - and of 1911 also - does not show any Mulvihill households.

Cornelius (Con) MULVIHILL [Parents] was born about 1823. He died in possibly 15 Nov 1908 in Church St., Listowel, Co. Kerry. Cornelius married Ann (Nance) CUNNINGHAM (caution: not verified).

Other marriages:
DINEEN, Bridget (Biddie)

At the time of his marriage to Biddie Dineen (his second wife), Cornelius was living in Gortdromasillihy, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. Apparently he subsequently inherited the family's Clounbrane farm in Moyvane (one of the three farms originally owned by Con's father).

I am told that Con had a brother named Michael who married Norrie Cunningham who was a sister of Con's first wife, Nance, i.e., two Mulvihill brothers married two Cunningham sisters. However, further research needs to be carried out to verify this.

I believe the Cornelius Mulvihill who died at Church St., Listowel, Co. Kerry on 15 November 1908 aged 85 is Con above as the informant on his death record was a Tim Dineen of Glenalappa, Moyvane, and Con's wife was Bridget Dineen from Glenalappa. Con's (approximate) birth date has been calculated from the death record.

Ann (Nance) CUNNINGHAM (caution: not verified) [Parents] died before 1862. Ann married Cornelius (Con) MULVIHILL.

A number of family trees on the Ancestry website show Nance as being a daughter of Daniel Cunningham and Hanora Enright. While it seems likely she was indeed their daughter, this has not been verified.

According to some sources Nance's name may actually have been Nora. However, the baptismal records of her children give their mother's name as Ann. Also, it appears that she had a sister named Honora (from which Nora is derived). This sister, who was known as Norrie, was the wife of Michael Mulvihill who was apparently a brother of Nance's husband, Con, i.e., two Mulvihill brothers married two Cunningham sisters. However, further research needs to be carried out to verify this.

Nance died when her children were very young. Con remarried not long afterwards.

They had the following children.

  M i
Daniel MULVIHILL was born in 1857 in Gortdromasillihy, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Baptismal sponsors were Michael Mulvihill and Ellen Cunningham.

Daniel emigrated to the United States in 1878 and was living with his sister Nora (McNichols) and her family in Chicago at the time of the 1900 census. Unfortunately we have no information on Daniel beyond this.
F ii Hanora (Nora) MULVIHILL was born in Nov 1858. She died on 27 Dec 1947.
  F iii
Mary MULVIHILL was born in Mar 1860 in Gortdromasillihy, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. She was christened on 22 Mar 1860 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry.

Baptismal sponsors were Bryan Cunningham and Mary Cunningham.

It is thought Mary died young as a daughter born later to her father and his second wife, Bridie, was also named Mary.
F iv Johanna MULVIHILL died in 1921.

Timothy DINEEN was buried in Knockanure Cemetery, Co. Kerry.

He had the following children.

  M i
John DINEEN died after 1891 in possibly Glenalappa, Moyvane, Co. Kerry.
F ii Catherine DINEEN was born about 1834. She died in probably before 2 April 1911.
F iii Mary DINEEN died in date unknown .
F iv Bridget (Biddie) DINEEN was born about 1838. She died on 19 Mar 1917.

Edmund DINEEN died in U.S..
  M vi
Daniel (Dan) DINEEN died in possibly U.S..

Percy SARGENT [Parents] was born on 24 Feb 1894 in Santa Clara, California. He died on 15 Jun 1966 in San Francisco. He was buried in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Colma, California. Percy married Ellen (Nellie) HANRAHAN about 1918 in California.
