Edward HUDSON [Parents] was born on 3 Nov 1885 in Dingle, Co. Kerry. He was christened on 12 Feb 1886 in Dingle, Co. Kerry. He died on 1 Apr 1967 in Glenageary, Co. Dublin. Edward married Benedicta (Barry) M. COOKE on 16 Sep 1931 in Church of the Sacred Heart, Edge Hill, Wimbledon, London.

Edward was educated at Portora School in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh. Several years before his marriage to Benedicta, Edward was engaged to be married to Constance Muriel Mill, daughter of George Symers Mill, a doctor, of Ossett, Yorkshire, but it appears the marriage never took place.

Edward, having qualified as an accountant, joined the Munster and Leinster Bank and worked at its O'Connell St. branch in Dublin for a number of years (he was living in a boarding house in Harrington St., Dublin at the time of the 1911 census). He was later appointed manager of the bank's branches in Ennistymon, Co. Clare and Lismore, Co. Waterford.

Benedicta (Barry) M. COOKE [Parents] was born on 20 Dec 1893 in George's Quay, Limerick city. She died on 15 Aug 1977 in Orpington, Kent. She was buried in All Saints Cemetery, Orpington, Kent. Benedicta married Edward HUDSON on 16 Sep 1931 in Church of the Sacred Heart, Edge Hill, Wimbledon, London.

Barry grew up in Limerick. She and her husband, Edward, lived at 'Ventry', 125 Silchester Park, Glenageary, Co. Dublin.

Edwina Ann HUDSON was born on 3 Dec 1934 in Hatch St., Dublin. She died on 13 Feb 1935 in Ennistymon, Co. Clare.

Edwina was Gloria's twin. She died at the age of 10 weeks.

Edward COOKE was born about 1856 in Limerick city. He died on 11 Nov 1925 in Limerick city. Edward married Maria MAHER in possibly 1879 in Limerick city.

Edward, who also seems to have gone by the name of Edmund, was a pig buyer. The 1911 census tells us that he and his wife, Maria, had 12 children born alive, 12 of whom were still living at the time of the census.

Edward died of cancer of the tongue.

Maria MAHER [Parents] was born about 1858 in Limerick city. She died in 1946 in Dublin. Maria married Edward COOKE in possibly 1879 in Limerick city.

Maria and her husband, Edward, lived on George's Quay, Limerick and later at 20 Upper Mallow St., Limerick. Sometime after Edward's death Maria moved to Dublin where she lived at 'Ikerrin', Belgrave Road, Monkstown.

They had the following children.

F i Benedicta (Barry) M. COOKE was born on 20 Dec 1893. She died on 15 Aug 1977.

Joseph (Joe) DONNELLY [Parents] was born about 1893. He died on 15 Mar 1953 in 16 Langford Row, Cork. He was buried in Rathcooney Cemetery, Cork. Joseph married Hanora (Nora) LYNCH on 2 Apr 1945 in Cork Cathedral, Cork.

Other marriages:
DUGGAN, Mary

A birth record has been located for a Joseph Donnelly who was born at 34 Commons Road Cork on 19 March 1893 to John Donnelly and Mary [what looks like] Gonnor [possibly Connor]. I think it very likely that this is our Joe's birth record as the date ties in with our Joe's age at death (59). Also, Nora, our Joe's wife, grew up at 65 Common Road.

The marriage record of Joe and Nora tells us that Joe, a widower, was a shopkeeper and living at 16 Langford Row in Cork at the time (1945). By the time of his death eight years later he had become an engine driver. Joe died of a coronary thrombosis aged about 60.

Hanora (Nora) LYNCH [Parents] was born on 8 Jul 1910 in 15 Kilbarry Cottages, Cork. She died after 15 Apr 1990 in probably Cork. Hanora married Joseph (Joe) DONNELLY on 2 Apr 1945 in Cork Cathedral, Cork.

At the time of her marriage (1945) Nora a factory worker and living on Seminary Road, Blackpool, Cork. After her marriahe she and her husband, Joe, lived at 16 Langford Row in Cork; it appears they had no children. I am told either Nora or another sister ran a sweet shop in Cork. I think this was probably Nora as Joe was a shopkeeper at the time of their marriage.

Marriage Notes:

Witnesses to the marriage were Patrick Hegarty amd [what looks like] Maura Hegarty.

James GALVIN died.

He had the following children.

  F i Mary GALVIN died.

  M iii
James GALVIN was born about 1860 in Co. Roscommon. He died on 15 Nov 1915 in Mount Avon, Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow.

James, who never married, ran the family nursery business with his brother John. James was living in Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow and working in the nursery business at the time of the 1911 census. He is listed in the census as 50 years old and living in Meelings, Rathdrum with two servants. His address at the time of his death four-and-a-half years later was Mount Avon, Rathdrum. I think it possible that Mount Avon was the name of James's property in Meelings.

James died at the age of 55 of chronic Bright's Disease and pulmonary tuberculosis.

John F. KEARNEY [Parents] was born about 1948. He died on 7 Jun 2001 in Dublin. He was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery, Moyvane, Co. Kerry. John married Mary THORNTON in 1974 in Church of Ss Peter and Paul, Ballyduff, Co. Kerry.
