Michael HUNT [Parents] was born about 30 Apr 1843 in possibly Coraughrim, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim. He was christened on 30 Apr 1843. He died on 18 Oct 1899 in Coraughrim, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim. Michael married Bridget (Biddy) MORAHAN on 2 Feb 1873 in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim.

Witnesses to the marriage of Michael and Bridget were John Noone and Mary Ann Barrett. After their marriage Michael and Biddy lived in Coraughrim.

Michael died of tuberculosis at the age of 55, just two months after the death of his daughter Margaret of the same disease.

Bridget (Biddy) MORAHAN [Parents] was born about 15 Jul 1847 in Kiltoghert, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim. She was christened on 17 Jul 1847 in Kiltoghert, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim. She died in probably Coraughrim, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim. Bridget married Michael HUNT on 2 Feb 1873 in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim.

Sponsors at Biddy's baptism were John Morahan and Catherine McGowan.

I have been told that Biddy died on 13 October 1925 in Cartron, Boyle, Co. Roscommon aged 74, the informant on the death certificate being a daughter, Katie Hunt. While our Bridget above did have a daughter named Kate, Kate married in 1922 so her surname in 1925 would not have been Hunt. Furthermore, I am unaware of a family connection with Cartron. Therefore I believe that the Bridget Hunt who died in Cartron in 1925 was not our Bridget above. If I have got it wrong I would be very grateful if you would get in touch. Please email Helen@HelensFamilyTrees.com.

They had the following children.

F i Mary Jane HUNT was born on 25 Feb 1874. She died on 2 Jan 1944.
M ii John HUNT was born on 6 Sep 1875.
  F iii
Margaret HUNT was born on 9 Jul 1877 in Coraughrim, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim. She was christened on 9 Jul 1877. She died on 27 Aug 1899 in Coraughrim, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim.

Margaret died of tuberculois at the age of 22.
M iv Thadeus (Thady) HUNT was born on 9 Sep 1879. He died in probably before 13 Aug 1963.
M v Michael Stephen HUNT was born on 15 Jan 1882. He died on 13 Aug 1963.
  M vi
Dominick HUNT was born on 8 Mar 1884 in Coraughrim, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim.

Unfortunately we have no further information on Dominick.

There was a Dominick Hunt who was born in the same area and around the same time as our Dominick above, and who briefly served in the Royal Navy before emigrating to the United States in 1907. However this is not our Dominick above, although he was apparently related to the Coraughrim Hunts. Hunt researchers may be interested in this other Dominick's story: he was a son of John Hunt (c.1834-1912) and Bridget McGlynn (1853-1940) who lived in Coryolish (or Corryolus), Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim. Passenger records from Dominick's voyage to the U.S. in 1907 tell us he was joining his brother James in Brooklyn, New York. This Dominick's World War I Draft Registration Card tells that by 1918 he was living in Grass Range, Montana and working in farming. He never married and died aged 38 on 6 Apr 1922 in Warm Springs, Montana of "exhaustion of manic depressive insanity". According to a public family tree on the Ancestry website, this Dominick had been a successful rancher and left a sizeable estate.

A Dominick Hunt, aged 17, is listed in the 1901 census as an "apprentice", presumably in the grocery and pub business owned by the family he was living with at the time (Fox) in Carrick-on-Shannon town. Was he our Dominick above or was he the Dominick who lived in Montana?

There was also a Dominck Hunt who was living in Rincurreen, Co. Leitrim in 1940s who may have been Dominick above.
F vii Bridget (Bridie) HUNT was born on 5 May 1886. She died in 1965.
F viii Evelyn Kathleen (Kate) HUNT was born on 17 Jan 1890. She died on 6 Jul 1968.
  M ix
Joseph Albert HUNT was born on 24 Jun 1892 in Coraughrim, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim. He died in probably before 13 Aug 1963.

Joseph may have lived in Texas.
M x Eugene HUNT was born on 25 Nov 1895. He died on 11 Jul 1966.

Joseph LOGAN [Parents] was born in Oct 1844 in probably Cootehall, Co. Roscommon. He was christened on 6 Oct 1844 in Cootehall, Co. Roscommon. Joseph married Anne MCGAVRAN on 8 Feb 1869 in Cootehall, Co. Roscommon.

Sponsors at Joseph's baptism were Michael Logan and Eleanor Meehan.

Anne MCGAVRAN [Parents] died. Anne married Joseph LOGAN on 8 Feb 1869 in Cootehall, Co. Roscommon.

Witnesses to the marriage of Anne and Joseph were Martin Havaghy and Catherine McGavran. On the marriage certificate, Joseph's address is given as Glooria (near Boyle) and Anne's is Drinchivne. However, I have been unable to find the Drinchivne townland/parish in any Roscommon townland list, although there is a townland called Drumshannagh near Boyle. Perhaps this is where Anne was from. I have also seen Anne's surname given as McGovern and McGauran.

Peter LOGAN [Parents] was born in Aug 1854 in probably Cootehall, Co. Roscommon. He was christened on 20 Aug 1854 in Cootehall, Co. Roscommon. He died after Jun 1937. Peter married Catherine (Kate) Agnes MCPARTLAND in 1886.

Sponsors at Peter's baptism were Charles Meehan and Lucy Meehan. According to his marriage certificate (1886), Peter was a member of the RIC (Royal Irish Constabulary) and lived on Abbey Lane (presumably in Boyle or Cootehall). Witnesses to the marriage were James O'Hara and Ellie Duignan. A 1911 census record was located for a Peter Logan, a 54-year-old Roscommon-born RIC pensioner who was living with his wife, 42-year-old Longford-born Kate Agnes, on Carrick St., Kells, Co. Meath. Although our Peter's wife is believed to have been born in Co. Roscommon, it is likely that the Peter from the census is our Peter above. According to the census, Peter and Kate had been married for 24 years and had no children.

Catherine (Kate) Agnes MCPARTLAND [Parents] was born about 1858 in Boyle, Co. Roscommon. She died in Jun 1937 in Kells, Co. Meath. Catherine married Peter LOGAN in 1886.

On their marriage certificate, Kate's address is given as Rockingham (near Boyle) and Peter's is Ardagh (also near Boyle). Kate was a sister of Anne, wife of Peter's brother John.

He had the following children.

  F i Anne MCGAVRAN died.

Thomas GLYNN [Parents] was born about 1855. Thomas married Elizabeth LOGAN on 16 Feb 1880 in Cootehall, Co. Roscommon.

On Thomas's marriage certificate (transcribed from the original), his address is given as "Cuidera", but I have been unable to find a townland or parish of this name in Co. Roscommon.

Witnesses to the marriage were John Glynn and Anne Logan.

Note: A Jim Glynn from the Boyle area married an Evelyn Mary O'Hara from Cootehall around 1915 (the O'Haras being connected to the the Gordons and the Morahans, two other families being researched). Is it possible that Thomas and Jim might have been related?

Elizabeth LOGAN [Parents] was born about 1859. She died in 1939 in Co. Roscommon. Elizabeth married Thomas GLYNN on 16 Feb 1880 in Cootehall, Co. Roscommon.

On Elizabeth's marriage certificate (transcribed from the original), her address is given as "Drumchinne", but I have been unable to find a townland or parish of this name in Co. Roscommon. The closest match was the townland of Drumshannagh near Boyle.

They had the following children.
